  • Anambra Teen Sparks Outcry After Impregnating 10 Girls; Commissioner Seeks Public Help

Anambra State’s Commissioner for Women’s Affairs and Social Welfare, Ify Obinabo, has raised alarm over an 18-year-old boy accused of impregnating 10 girls, including his former employer’s daughter and a salesgirl. The case, described as “beyond her capacity,” was brought to her office on Tuesday, prompting a public appeal for solutions.

In a social media video, Obinabo detailed the teenager’s actions: during a three-month apprenticeship, he impregnated his master’s daughter and a coworker, leading to his dismissal. Two months after returning to his village, he reportedly fathered pregnancies with eight additional girls. “His mother is terrified whenever she sees girls approaching their home,” Obinabo shared, stressing the urgency of intervention.

The commissioner, visibly perplexed, questioned whether the situation had spiritual undertones but revealed the boy’s explanation: “He claims he tells the girls he loves them and promises marriage once he gains wealth.” While withholding the family’s identity and community for privacy, Obinabo emphasized the complexity of the case, citing the boy’s age and the scale of the pregnancies.

“This issue demands collective input. How do we address such a pattern?” she asked, urging the public to propose solutions. No formal charges have been announced.
