The African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in the upcoming November 8 election, Mr. John Chuma Nwosu, has formally pledged to serve only one term if elected as Governor of Anambra State. Nwosu made this commitment in a sworn affidavit, emphasizing his adherence to the state’s long-standing rotational arrangement among the three senatorial zones—Anambra North, Central, and South.
Nwosu, who hails from Anambra South Senatorial Zone, the same region as incumbent Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, explained that his decision was guided by principles of fairness, equity, and natural justice. In the affidavit, he stated that the governorship rotation in Anambra State is an unwritten but respected convention designed to ensure balanced representation and unity across the zones.
He noted that the South Senatorial Zone currently holds the governorship position and has only one term left to complete its turn in office. According to the affidavit, once this term is completed, power is expected to shift to Anambra Central for the next eight years, followed by the North Senatorial Zone.
In his sworn statement, Nwosu declared: “If elected Governor of Anambra State under the African Democratic Congress on November 8, 2025, I shall serve only one term of four years to allow the Anambra Central Senatorial Zone produce the next governor after my tenure.”
He appealed to voters and political stakeholders across Anambra Central to support his candidacy, assuring them that his administration would uphold the governorship rotation principle anchored on natural justice, equity, and good conscience.
Nwosu concluded his affidavit by affirming that his oath was made sincerely and in full compliance with the provisions of the Oaths Act, 2004, reflecting his commitment to a fair and inclusive political process in Anambra State.
