  • Awka North Communities Donate N150 Million to Support Soludo’s Re-election Campaign

Communities in Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State have thrown their weight behind Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s re-election bid, contributing N150 million to strengthen his campaign ahead of the November 8 governorship election.

The donation was formally presented to the governor on Friday during an All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) rally held in Amansea, Awka North, where party supporters and community leaders gathered to reaffirm their commitment to Soludo’s leadership and developmental vision for the state.

Speaking at the event, Chairman of Awka North LGA, Thankgod Anagor, expressed appreciation for the governor’s achievements, particularly the completion of 55.5 kilometres of roads across the area within three and a half years. He said the gesture was a reflection of the communities’ desire to consolidate on the progress recorded under Soludo’s administration.

“Our goal is to build on the initiatives that are transforming Anambra into a model state for development. That is why we are giving our full support to your re-election efforts,” Anagor stated.

The lawmaker representing Awka North Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Johnmark Ikwunne, also commended the governor for his efforts in youth empowerment, education, and healthcare, adding that Soludo’s inclusive policies have touched every sector of the state’s economy.

Similarly, speaking on behalf of the ten communities in the LGA, President-General of Urum, Felix Ifebumma, reaffirmed their unwavering support for the governor, describing his administration as people-focused and result-oriented.

In his response, Governor Soludo thanked the communities for their financial and moral backing, noting that their endorsement reflects deep trust in his leadership. He highlighted Awka North’s importance to his political journey, recalling that the area, along with Anambra West and Ogbaru, has been instrumental in sustaining his vision since his first campaign.

Soludo also spoke about the 10.9-kilometre road linking Awka North to Achalla, which he said has ended the community’s long-standing isolation and boosted land value in the area. “Residents of Awka North no longer need to pass through other local governments to get home. The economic impact of these developments is already evident,” he said.

Describing Amansea as the gateway to Anambra State, the governor urged young people to stay away from cultism and other social vices, emphasizing the need for peace and unity as foundations for progress and sustainable development.
