  • Abia Governor Alex Otti Issues Fierce Warning to Election Riggers: ‘Write Your Will First’

Abia State Governor Alex Otti has issued a dramatic and stern caution to politicians planning to undermine the democratic process through electoral malpractice, advising them to “write their will” before attempting to rig the 2027 elections. The governor delivered the warning on Thursday during the October edition of his monthly public address, Alex Otti Speaks to Abians, held at the Government House in Umuahia.

Governor Otti’s remarks, shared via a video on Channels Television’s YouTube page, underscored his belief that the outcome of future elections in the state will be decided solely by the will of God and the populace. His comments serve as an early shot across the bow in the political maneuverings ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial contest in Abia.

“I have heard that some people around him say oh, they must take over this state, they must write results,” Otti said, in an apparent reference to recent claims by opposition figures. “But the only advice I have for them is that if they truly want to write results, they should write something else before that time. You know what it is? Their will.”

The governor’s challenge was reportedly a response to recent remarks attributed to the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, who is said to have declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would capture Abia State in 2027.

Governor Otti, a member of the Labour Party, made history with his victory in the 2023 governorship election, ending over two decades of dominance by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
