The Awgu Local Government in Enugu State has initiated the construction of critical road networks linking smart schools across its 11 wards, starting with a four-kilometer road equipped with drainage systems, including two box culverts and seven ring culverts, to enhance connectivity to Agbogugu Smart School. Council Chairman Uche Kolo emphasized that the project aligns with Governor Peter Mbah’s broader agenda to improve access to education, healthcare, and agricultural infrastructure. The roads will also facilitate access to Agbogugu Ward Farm Estate, Agbogugu Girls Secondary School, and an upgraded Type 3 Primary Health Centre, fostering economic and social development.
Residents, including farmer Mrs. Amarachi Okoro, praised the initiative, noting its potential to ease the transportation of farm produce to markets and uplift livelihoods. The road network will further connect communities like Akanwu, Obom, and Obodoakpu, enhancing regional integration. Kolo’s administration has concurrently rolled out additional projects, including the establishment of Awgu Smart Farms, installation of over 600 solar streetlights, and a “Water for All” program, underscoring a commitment to holistic community development. These efforts aim to translate infrastructure upgrades into tangible improvements in education, healthcare delivery, and agricultural productivity for Awgu’s residents.
