Akwa Ibom State-owned Ibom Air has confirmed the resumption of flight operations to and from Akanu Ibiam International Airport (AIIA), Enugu, effective Sunday, May 4, 2025. The decision follows the completion of emergency runway repairs and the issuance of a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM A0126/25 NOTAMC A0125/25) confirming the airport’s operational readiness.
The Enugu airport was temporarily closed on April 22, 2025, after a critical section of the runway suffered significant asphalt damage, necessitating urgent repairs originally slated to conclude by May 6. With the runway now restored, Ibom Air has reinstated all scheduled flights to the route, prioritizing rebooking and alternative arrangements for passengers affected by the disruption.
In a statement by General Manager of Marketing and Communications Aniekan Essienette, the airline expressed gratitude for passengers’ patience, reaffirming its commitment to “safe, reliable, and on-time service.” Customer service teams are proactively contacting impacted travelers to facilitate seamless travel adjustments.
