Ahead of the November 8 governorship election in Anambra State, Governor Chukwuma Soludo has secured significant political backing, including a notable endorsement from former governor and current Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige. The endorsement came during a town hall meeting with Anambra indigenes in Abuja, where Ngige declared, “I came, I saw, and I confirmed—Soludo has performed well.” He humorously urged the governor to “Carry Go,” signaling strong support for Soludo’s re-election bid.
The event also saw endorsements from other prominent figures, including former PDP National Publicity Secretary Chief Olisa Metuh, who described Soludo as “the best of the best” based on his developmental strides. Former Minister of Police Affairs Simon Okeke pledged to help attract investors to the state, while industrialist Chief Emeka Offor called on Anambra residents to set aside partisan politics and support the governor’s development agenda.
Governor Soludo used the platform to outline his administration’s achievements, emphasizing his five-pillar development agenda, which includes infrastructure, security, and economic transformation. He revealed that his government is finalizing a deal with a Chinese construction firm to build a modern intercity railway system, part of broader plans to develop three smart cities in Awka, Onitsha, and a new commercial hub across the Niger River.
He further highlighted cost-saving measures, claiming his administration reduced governance expenses by 80% while delivering tangible projects, including numerous road constructions in previously neglected communities. “We are turning Anambra from a departure lounge to a destination,” he said, inviting wealthy indigenes to invest in the state’s emerging ICT and logistics hubs.
Despite fiscal constraints, the governor stressed his commitment to connecting rural areas with quality roads and basic amenities. “Some communities have never seen tarred roads—that is why we are aggressively building despite limited resources,” he noted. With endorsements from key political and business leaders, Soludo’s re-election campaign appears to be gaining momentum as he positions Anambra for accelerated growth.
