  • Anambra Native Doctor Arrested for Ritual Activities Appeals to Governor Soludo

NNEWI, Nigeria — A prominent Nnewi-based native doctor, Ikechukwu John Paul, widely known as Aka Mmuo, has issued a public plea for mercy to the Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Soludo, following his arrest by local security forces.

The arrest, which took place on Friday, involved operatives of the Agunechemba security outfit. Authorities escorted the suspect to a local river where he reportedly conducted various spiritual rituals. The native doctor faced allegations of performing rituals specifically aimed at assisting internet fraudsters, commonly referred to as Yahoo Boys, in deceiving their victims.

Following a public parade by the security operatives, Aka Mmuo expressed deep regret for his actions and appealed for a second chance. He claimed a lack of awareness regarding the legal implications of his practices and pledged to cease all such activities immediately.

In his statement, the suspect addressed the state leadership and the public, asking for forgiveness and a chance to reform. He explicitly promised to discontinue the practice of performing sacrifices at the river and urged the state government to consider his plea for clemency under the law.

The case has drawn attention to the ongoing efforts by the Anambra State government and local security groups to clamp down on activities linked to cybercrime and unconventional spiritual practices used for fraudulent purposes. Governor Soludo’s administration has remained firm on maintaining law and order, leaving the fate of the suspect in the hands of the state’s legal and security frameworks.
