The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 35-year-old man from Osumoghu Isieke Village, Ihiala LGA, for his alleged involvement in the 2022 murder of Police Inspector Stella Maris during an attack on the Ukpo Police Division in Dunukofia. Police spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed the arrest, revealing that the suspect was apprehended during a raid on a criminal hideout in Ukpor by the Rapid Response Squad/Anti-Kidnapping Unit on April 25.
During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to membership in the banned Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and admitted participating in the deadly attack that claimed the inspector’s life. He also allegedly planned to enforce the illegal Monday sit-at-home order in the region. Ikenga stated that joint security patrols have been intensified to curb further criminal activities, assuring the public of continued efforts to apprehend remaining gang members.
