Anambra State Police Command has thwarted a kidnap attempt in Neni, Anaocha Local Government Area, rescuing three victims, including a couple, during a swift operation on Saturday night.

State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday, revealing that officers from the Neni Division responded to a distress call at Okacha Junction around 8:45 p.m. “The prompt intervention disrupted the abduction, rescued all victims, and led to the recovery of one of their vehicles,” Ikenga stated.

A joint security task force—comprising military personnel, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and local vigilantes—has launched a manhunt for the armed suspects, who fled with a stolen black Lexus 350 SUV (Registration: ABJ 557 LD). The assailants were reportedly armed with advanced weaponry.

Anambra Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, commended the operatives’ rapid response and urged residents to remain vigilant. “Collaboration with security agencies is critical to sustaining peace in our communities,” he emphasized, calling on the public to report suspicious activities.
