Anambra State Police Command has arrested four suspected kidnappers, including a woman identified as Chinaza Udemezue, during a raid on a criminal hideout in Uke, Idemili South Local Government Area. The operation, conducted by the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Awkuzu on May 9, 2025, followed credible intelligence on the gang’s activities.
Police spokesperson DSP Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed the arrests in a Saturday statement, revealing the recovery of three vehicles: a black Lexus GS 350 (ENU 561 LY), an ash-colored Toyota Camry (UWN 614 HK), and a navy blue Toyota Corolla (UMZ 135 AD). Also seized were an HP laptop, a car spraying machine, motor wires, and methamphetamine (locally known as Mkpurummiri).
The suspects—Chigozie Udolisa (19), Anaolu Joseph (21), Chukwuka Udolisa (28), and Chinaza Udemezue—allegedly confessed to roles in kidnapping, armed robbery, and car theft. Udemezue disclosed her boyfriend fled with firearms upon spotting police, evading capture.
Ikenga stated the suspects are undergoing interrogation to uncover further details about their operations and locate accomplices. “The command remains committed to ensuring the safety of Anambra residents,” he added, vowing intensified efforts to dismantle criminal networks.
