The Anambra State Police Command has taken over the scene of a deadly cult-related shooting incident that occurred on the night of June 19, 2025, at Total Junction and Tipper Junction in Oko, Orumba North Local Government Area. The attack, which took place around 8:40 pm, left two people dead, two others allegedly abducted, and two victims—including a lady—rescued and currently receiving treatment at a hospital.
Police operatives, led by the Area Commander of Aguata and backed by a joint security force comprising personnel from the Nigerian Army, Navy, Civil Defence, and local vigilante groups, swiftly responded to the attack and have since secured the area.
Eyewitnesses reported that the armed assailants, riding on a motorcycle and in a black Lexus 350 SUV without a license plate, stormed Total Junction and began shooting indiscriminately, leaving four people wounded. The attackers reportedly proceeded to Tipper Junction, where they abducted two individuals before fleeing the scene.
Confirming the incident, the Anambra Police Command stated that efforts are already underway to track and apprehend the perpetrators. “Police operatives are acting on necessary information from some eyewitnesses for the possible arrest of the armed hoodlums,” a statement from the command noted.
The police urged residents to remain calm as investigations continue and pledged to keep the public informed of further developments.
