The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dissolved the Ugo Agbala-led Enugu State Executive Committee and appointed a seven-member caretaker committee to oversee the party’s affairs in the state. The decision, which takes immediate effect, was reached during the 179th meeting of the NWC held on Thursday at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
The meeting, presided over by the APC National Chairman, Dr. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, was followed by an official statement signed by the party’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Jide Meseko. Meseko explained that the dissolution followed a comprehensive review of the state of the party in Enugu, adding that the new committee would be inaugurated on Friday, October 10, 2025, at the APC national headquarters.
Former state chairman, Dr. Ben Nwoye, has been appointed as chairman of the caretaker committee, while former Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Eugene Odoh, will serve as secretary. Other members include H.E. Mrs. Fidelia Njoeze, Comrade Peter Chime, Dr. (Mrs.) Oby Ajih, Dr. Chiedozie Nwafor, and Engr. Emma Ekeh.
Although the dissolution has been linked to the speculated defection of Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, to the APC, Meseko declined to confirm the speculation, describing the move instead as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the party’s structure and internal cohesion in the state.
