Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru has inaugurated the construction of a multipurpose industrial city in Izhiangbo, Ohaukwu Local Government Area, marking a strategic push to elevate the state’s economic profile. The project, designed to feature modern infrastructure such as sustainable power solutions, advanced water systems, broadband connectivity, and enhanced security, aims to position Ebonyi as a hub for manufacturing, technology, logistics, and export activities. Nwifuru emphasized that the initiative transcends physical development, representing a holistic strategy to leverage the state’s natural resources—including solid minerals and agricultural produce—while attracting local and international investors through business-friendly policies.
The governor highlighted Izhiangbo’s strategic advantages, citing its proximity to transport networks, raw materials, skilled labor, and market access as pivotal to the city’s planned success. Key infrastructure will include a robust road network, independent power grids, waste management systems, and security frameworks to ensure investor safety. Nwifuru outlined expectations of job creation, youth empowerment, and technological innovation, noting substantial government and partner investments to actualize the vision. The industrial city aligns with broader goals to stimulate trade, integrate regional economies, and harness Ebonyi’s human and material capital for sustained growth.
