Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, the 2023 gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State, has empowered the Isuachara community with N150 million to enhance food production amid Nigeria’s current economic challenges. The announcement was made during the Isuachara Day celebration and grand reception held in his honor at Isuachara Primary School, Anioma Isu, in Onicha Local Government Area.
Under the agricultural empowerment initiative, three beneficiaries will be selected from each of the five kindreds in Isuachara, totaling 15 participants. These individuals will undergo training in modern farming techniques, after which each will receive N3 million to establish their agricultural businesses. Odii emphasized that the program will become an annual event, rotating among community members to ensure widespread benefits.
In addition to the agricultural support, Odii contributed N20 million toward the community’s N300 million town hall project, pledging further donations if the funds are utilized effectively. He also donated N20 million to the event’s organizing committee and provided undisclosed financial support to various community groups.
Odii highlighted Isuachara’s strong agricultural heritage, known for producing rice, yam, cassava, and vegetables, as the motivation behind his empowerment efforts. During the event, he was honored with the chieftaincy title “Omeziriobodo 1 of Isuachara” alongside six other distinguished community leaders.
Emmanuel Ogudu, National Chairman of the Isuachara Development Union, praised Odii’s humanitarian contributions, stating that the reception and chieftaincy recognition were testaments to his impactful service. Similarly, Prof. Ogbonna Ogbu, Chairman of the occasion and a fellow awardee, expressed gratitude for the successful celebration and looked forward to future editions of Isuachara Day.
