Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah joined dignitaries, traditional rulers, and political leaders to honor former Governor of old Anambra State, Senator Jim Nwobodo, during his 85th birthday celebration in Enugu on Friday. The event, held at Nwobodo’s Amechi Awkunanaw residence, drew praise for the elder statesman’s decades of public service and mentorship.
Governor Mbah lauded Nwobodo’s legacy as a selfless leader, citing his tenure as governor at 39, his transformative role as Minister of Youth and Sports, and his legislative impact as a senator. “Your life is proof that true value lies in service. You are a priceless gift to Enugu and Nigeria,” Mbah stated, pledging to uphold Nwobodo’s ideals of courage and patriotism.
In response, Nwobodo commended Mbah’s governance, attributing his success to divine inspiration and openness to counsel. “Governor Mbah listens. When I suggested an idea, he acted on it. That’s the mark of a leader destined for greatness,” he remarked, thanking Mbah for organizing the celebration and emphasizing the importance of honoring individuals during their lifetime.
The gathering included former Enugu Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Deputy Governor Ifeanyi Ossai, state executives, lawmakers, council chairmen, and traditional rulers led by Igwe Samuel Asadu.
