Enugu State Governor Dr. Peter Mbah has expressed his administration’s commitment to collaborating with Guinness Nigeria PLC to advance sports development, leveraging the state’s rich sporting heritage and emerging talent. During a visit by Guinness executives showcasing the English Premier League (EPL) trophy at Government House, Enugu, Mbah highlighted ongoing projects like the renovation of Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium and Awgu Games Village to FIFA and World Athletics standards ahead of hosting the 2026 National Sports Festival. He emphasized Enugu’s status as a hub for sports legends, citing the recent Nigerian Premier League victory of Enugu Rangers, and proposed corporate endorsements to strengthen ties with Guinness.

Guinness Nigeria’s Corporate Relations Director, Rotimi Odusola, praised Enugu as the “spiritual home of football in Nigeria,” referencing the historic legacy of Rangers International FC.
