Enyimba International FC of Aba has extended warm congratulations to their sister club, Abia Warriors FC of Umuahia, following the latter’s historic qualification for the 2025/2026 CAF Confederation Cup. Abia Warriors secured the continental ticket after a hard-fought 2-1 victory over El-Kanemi Warriors at the Umuahia Township Stadium on Sunday, marking a milestone achievement for the club.
In a statement issued from Aba on Monday, Enyimba chairman, Nwankwo Kanu, praised Abia Warriors for their impressive feat and urged them to represent the state and country boldly on the continental stage. Kanu described the achievement as one worthy of celebration by football lovers across Abia State and the nation, emphasizing its significance in the history of Abia Warriors FC.
Kanu also commended the leadership of Abia Warriors chairman, John Obuh, applauding the rapid progress the club has made under his stewardship in less than two years. He noted that Abia Warriors have become a formidable presence in Nigerian football, thanks to the vision, discipline, and resilience of the management, coaching staff, players, and entire club workforce.
Expressing solidarity and pride, Kanu said Enyimba shares in the club’s joy and urged them to seize the moment to elevate the image of Abia State and Nigeria in African football. With one game left to conclude the Nigeria Premier Football League season, Abia Warriors sit third on the table with 60 points, ahead of Ikorodu City FC, who have 56 points in fourth place. League champions Remo Stars and runners-up Rivers United will feature in the CAF Champions League, while Abia Warriors and the yet-to-be-decided Federation Cup winner will fly the country’s flag in the CAF Confederation Cup.
