Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) operatives have arrested Levi Obieze, a notorious native doctor alias “E de play, e de show,” at the Gbaji checkpoint along Lagos’ Badagry-Seme border. Obieze, wanted by Enugu State Police for abduction, kidnapping, and ritual killings, was intercepted while attempting to flee Nigeria on a motorcycle. NIS spokesperson Akinsola Akinlabi confirmed the arrest, citing “credible intelligence” that led to his capture.
Obieze, a resident of Umuojor village in Isiagu Community, Enugu, faces allegations linked to the kidnapping of a 13-year-old girl and the discovery of two decomposing bodies of pregnant women in soakaway pits on his property. The crimes unfolded when two men on a motorcycle feigned mechanical issues to lure the girl’s father during a farm visit. After distracting him, they abducted the child, prompting vigilantes and police to launch a search. Screams from a bush near Obieze’s compound led to a confrontation where he resisted entry but was overpowered. The girl was rescued, and the grim remains uncovered, sparking community outrage.
Known for flaunting wealth at public events, Obieze had fled with his four wives before his arrest. NIS verified his identity through a National Identity Management Commission slip found on him, and he reportedly admitted to the crimes during interrogation. The NIS is coordinating with police for his handover and further investigation, reaffirming its commitment to border security amid the case’s horrific details.
