Gunmen have abducted 35-year-old Aluchie Jennifer, a resident of Asaba, Delta State, while she was traveling to her hometown, Umuhu Enyiogwugwu, in Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State. The kidnappers are demanding a N2 million ransom for her release, according to her family.
Jennifer had traveled from Asaba to Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Saturday to visit relatives before proceeding to her village. Her elder sister, Akus Amara, reported receiving distressing messages via WhatsApp around 3:00 a.m. on Sunday, including photos of Jennifer blindfolded and partially naked in a bush, accompanied by threats. A voice note captured Jennifer pleading for help, stating the kidnappers had beaten her and killed two others in her presence.
Amara attempted to negotiate, offering N500,000, but the abductors rejected the sum, warning her to comply or risk her sister’s life. Communication continued through Jennifer’s WhatsApp, with the assailants escalating threats by sending explicit images.
Jennifer’s son confirmed she had safely reached Port Harcourt before her disappearance en route to Imo. The family has appealed to security agencies and the public for urgent intervention.
Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Okoye Henry, urged the family to formally report the incident, noting no official complaint had been lodged yet.
