Prince Emeka Mamah, a prominent Labour Party figure and former campaign coordinator for Peter Obi in the 2023 presidential election, has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State, citing Governor Peter Mbah’s transformative leadership as his motivation. Mamah, joined by ex-LP State Publicity Secretary Barr. Titus Odo, was formally received at the PDP state headquarters by Chairman Dr. Martin Chukwuweike, who hailed the party’s resurgence under Mbah’s administration.
Mamah praised Mbah for redefining governance through transparency and accountability, stating, “His performance has inspired my return to the PDP alongside many supporters.” The former Environment Commissioner emphasized that Mbah’s inclusive approach has attracted previously alienated political heavyweights back to the party. Odo described his defection as a “homecoming,” crediting the governor’s achievements and ongoing projects across Enugu’s 260 wards as key factors in his decision.
Chukwuweike asserted that the PDP’s growing dominance under Mbah has eroded support for opposition parties, predicting further defections, including from National Assembly members. He attributed the trend to the administration’s focus on developmental governance, which he claimed has restored public trust. The defectors urged residents to back Mbah’s initiatives to ensure sustained progress across the state.
