Ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s scheduled visit to Abia State on May 23, 2025, the Igbo socio-cultural organization Ohanaeze Ndigbo has urged Governor Alex Otti to publicly endorse the President’s 2027 re-election bid, following the precedent set by Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo.
In a statement issued by Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, deputy National President of an Ohanaeze faction, the group emphasized the strategic importance of aligning with Tinubu’s administration to bolster federal support for the Southeast. Isiguzoro praised Otti’s completion of the long-abandoned Port Harcourt Road project—a 15-year infrastructural stalemate—as a testament to effective governance and a pivotal moment to embrace Tinubu’s national agenda.
“Governor Otti’s achievement in delivering this critical project not only benefits Abia but positions him to champion President Tinubu’s vision,” Isiguzoro stated. He referenced Soludo’s recent endorsement of Tinubu during the President’s Anambra visit as a model, urging Otti to similarly declare support to “foster deeper federal ties and unlock regional development opportunities.”
Ohanaeze highlighted the upcoming presidential visit as a chance for Abia to demonstrate unity and commitment to national progress, calling on residents to warmly welcome Tinubu. The group framed such alignment as essential for attracting investment and advancing the Southeast’s interests, rather than mere political maneuvering.
“This is a decisive moment for Abia and the Igbo nation to unite behind leadership that promises growth,” Isiguzoro added, reaffirming Ohanaeze’s readiness to rally support for Tinubu’s 2027 bid.
