Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have foiled a cult initiation ceremony in Nawfia, Njikoka Local Government Area, arresting six suspects and recovering firearms, a vehicle, and several incriminating items.
According to a statement released on Tuesday and signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the operation was carried out on June 15, 2025, around 9:30 a.m., following actionable intelligence.
The arrested suspects—identified as Nwadike Chibuike, Anierobi Precious, Raphael Ebube, Ezechi Benjamin, Okafor Chidera, and Chiema Okoye—are all males between the ages of 20 and 30.
Items recovered from the scene include a Jojef pump-action gun, two live cartridges, a golden-colored Lexus SUV with registration number ATN 202 AE, two cutlasses, two scissors, a cap bearing the insignia of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, various charms, suspected hard substances, and other incriminating materials.
The police say the suspects are currently undergoing interrogation to unravel further details of their operations. Upon conclusion of the investigation, the case will be charged to court.
The Anambra State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to tackling cultism, emphasizing the link between such groups and broader criminal activities across the state.
