Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo has rallied traditional rulers across the Southeast to prioritize unity and collaboration as catalysts for regional development. Addressing the South East Traditional Rulers’ Council in Anambra, Soludo emphasized the critical role of cultural leaders in bridging divisions and reinvigorating Igbo heritage, which he argued has been eroded by shifting values and external influences.
“Our strength lies in unity despite our diversity. The Igbo language binds us, transcending dialects,” Soludo stated, lamenting the decline of traditional norms that once fortified communal cohesion. He called for a collective effort to revive core principles like hard work and integrity, criticizing the modern glorification of ill-gotten wealth. “A society is defined by what it celebrates. We must return to honoring merit and enterprise,” he urged.
Dr. E.C. Okeke, Chairman of the South East Traditional Rulers’ Council, applauded Soludo’s governance and stressed the need for interstate collaboration among Southeast governors. The gathering included prominent figures such as Igwe Chidubem Iweka (Anambra Traditional Rulers’ Council Chairman), Igwe Alfred Achebe (former chairman), and Commissioner Tony-Collins Nwabunwanne, underscoring the region’s commitment to cultural stewardship and development.
