A touching tribute shared on Facebook by Moses Idika has brought national attention to the passing of a young Nigerian soldier, Mr. Akachukwu Nwite. The brave serviceman, a native of Oshiri Ugoeze in Ebonyi State, was recently laid to rest at the military cemetery in Maiduguri, Borno State.
According to the post, Akachukwu was described as a patriot, a younger brother, and a proud son of Ebonyi who gave his life in service to the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He was reportedly killed by suspected bandits while fighting to protect Nigeria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
In his message, Idika thanked the Defence Headquarters in Abuja and the Nigerian Army Headquarters for their support and communication with the bereaved family. He also called on authorities to fulfill all statutory responsibilities owed to the fallen soldier’s family.
More importantly, he made a strong appeal to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces to urgently reform the country’s security system. He emphasized the need to confront and defeat the forces threatening Nigeria’s stability, so that the supreme sacrifices made by Akachukwu and thousands of other military personnel are not in vain.
