Enugu State is poised to secure multiple venture capital deals at its inaugural Enugu Tech Festival, scheduled for May 7–9 at the International Conference Centre, as the region cements its status as Nigeria’s emerging tech powerhouse. Commissioner for Innovation, Science, and Technology, Dr. Prince Lawrence Ezeh, announced the milestone during a press briefing, revealing that global investors are increasingly eyeing the Eastern Corridor’s untapped potential.
The festival, themed to spark collaboration across software development, engineering, academia, and policymaking, will convene startups, students, investors, and industry leaders. Attendees can expect high-stakes networking, pitch sessions, and skill-building workshops, with hundreds of laptops and tablets up for grabs as part of a tech giveaway aimed at fostering grassroots innovation.
“This isn’t just a three-day event—it’s the launchpad for a movement to redefine Nigeria’s tech landscape,” Ezeh emphasized. “We’re here to connect talent with opportunity, fuel scalable solutions, and position Enugu as a beacon of decentralized innovation.”
Federal Ministers of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, and Innovation, Science, and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji, will headline the event with keynote speeches expected to shape national digital policy over the next decade. Their participation underscores the push to empower states like Enugu as regional tech hubs.
Ezeh noted the festival’s alignment with Governor Peter Mbah’s vision to transform Enugu into a “Silicon Valley of the East,” leveraging its talent pool and infrastructure to attract investment. “The world is watching—Enugu is ready to lead,” he declared, urging participants to “pivot, learn, and seize this moment.”
