The Ebonyi State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Ezeoke Chidera for the alleged murder of his 60-year-old neighbour, Mrs. Rose Awoke.
The tragic incident reportedly occurred on Monday at Egugho village in the Ezzagu community of Ishielu Local Government Area.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Joshua Ukandu, Chidera attacked Mrs. Awoke following a dispute and struck her multiple times with a shovel, leaving her in a pool of blood.
“On 02/06/2025 at about 0600hrs, we received a report that one Ezeoke Chidera, who lives in the same compound with Mrs. Awoke Rose, aged about 60 years, attacked her by hitting her several times with a shovel and abandoned her in a pool of her blood,” the police said.
The suspect has since been apprehended, and investigations are ongoing to uncover the motive behind the brutal attack.
