A fresh chapter begins for the National Youth Service Corps in Anambra State as Mrs. Pauline Ojisua assumes office as the 15th State Coordinator, succeeding Mrs. Blessing Ekene Iruma in a ceremonial transition at the Awka secretariat. The handover event saw the symbolic exchange of official documents alongside impassioned appeals for continuity from the outgoing coordinator, who urged staff to extend their cooperation to the new administration.
Ojisua wasted no time articulating her governance philosophy, emphasizing an open-door policy designed to foster transparency and staff welfare. “My administration will prioritize the wellbeing of both corps members and personnel while strengthening our community partnerships,” she declared during her inaugural address. The new coordinator has embarked on an extensive familiarization tour, meeting critical stakeholders including Engr. Martin Agblili, Permanent Secretary of the Youth Development Ministry, as part of efforts to solidify government collaboration.
Recognizing the cultural significance of traditional institutions in NYSC operations, Ojisua paid homage to several monarchs including Igwe Dr. Joel Egwuonwu of Nibo and Igwe Dr. Patrick Anugwu of Mbaukwu – communities hosting vital NYSC facilities. These strategic visits underscore her commitment to preserving the symbiotic relationship between host communities and the youth service scheme.
