The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has inaugurated its Southeast regional office in Enugu, marking a strategic push to accelerate digital economy growth and innovation across the region. Commissioned by Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah on Wednesday, the facility will function as a nexus for digital skills training, startup support, regulatory guidance, and partnerships with local governments, academia, and private stakeholders.
Communications Minister Dr. Bosun Tijani described the office as a “permanent bridge” between national policies and grassroots potential, aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to democratize access to digital opportunities. “This isn’t just a building—it’s a catalyst for inclusion, empowering young innovators, developers, and entrepreneurs with resources to scale their ideas,” Tijani stated. He hailed Enugu’s rapid transformation under Mbah’s leadership, noting the state’s emergence as a “promising frontier for innovation” within just two years.
Governor Mbah emphasized the office’s role in diversifying Enugu’s economy, stressing the urgency of leveraging the IT sector’s “immense growth opportunities.” He underscored the need for actionable steps to equip youths with globally relevant skills, calling the initiative “timely and brilliant” for preparing the workforce for a dynamic digital future. “This office opens new horizons for our youth and advances our vision to broaden the state’s revenue streams beyond traditional sectors,” Mbah said.
