The Anambra State Police Command has arrested two suspects linked to the kidnapping and murder of a female bank manager in Onitsha after collecting a ransom of N14 million from her family.
Police spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga, in a statement issued in Onitsha, confirmed the arrest and revealed that the suspects, 32-year-old Monday Egbe and 28-year-old Kenneth Nnoga, were tracked to a criminal hideout in a neighbouring state and apprehended during a tactical police operation on May 28.
According to Ikenga, the incident occurred on January 13 when the victim’s body was found along Nnobi Road with her eyes tied. Despite collecting the ransom, the suspects went ahead to murder her.
He said the suspects are currently undergoing interrogation to reveal more about their gang’s operations and to aid in apprehending other members still at large.
Commissioner of Police Ikioye Orutugu reaffirmed the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and ensuring justice is served. He called on residents to support ongoing investigations by reporting suspicious activities and remaining engaged until justice is delivered.
